History Of Dumra

Speaking about Dumra will take forever to finish. The Mahajan undertakes various kinds of social activities and performs work on a wide front, promoting a feeling of religious tolerance and equality.

Exactly two decades ago, circa 1994, the Mahajan came under the expert hands of 7 young people. In 1995, the first of their notable works came as the establishment of the idols of four Godesses in the altar of Shri Derasarji. The Godesses were established under the blessed guidance of Yativarya Shri Motisagarji as follows:

In the year 1997, daughters of the village donated a chariot made from German Silver to The Mahajan. In the year of 1998, under the auspicious oversight of Acharya Shri Gunodaysagar Surishwarji and Yuvacharya Shri Kalaprabhsagar Surishwarji, multi-purpose complex was set for construction with Bhoomi Poojan. In 2000.

Acharya Shri Gunodaysagar Surishwarji, Shri Rajratnasagar Surishwarji, and Shri Priyankarsagar Surishwarji blessed our village with their annual Chaaturmaas. On the first day, the aforementioned multi-purpose complex was opened to the general public at the hands of Acharya Shri, with an approximate attendance of 5,500 people from within and around the village.

Keeping in mind the Hindu Leap Month, the Chaaturmaas lasted for five months, during which solely the Mahajan had organized the food facilities. Throughout the five months, immense number of religious activities under the blessings of Poojyashri went through, and the entire programme received heartfelt appreciation from groups in and around the village.

In 2005, among the first and foremost in the entire Kutchh region, a splendid Bhaktamar Mandir was established. Made out of glass, with Golden and Silver foils over all verses, the 44 Bhaktamar verses were all engraved onto glass in the original language, as well as in Gujarati and English translations.

In the year of 2006, on the event of the 150th anniversary of Shri Derasarji, a grand event was organized with the blessings of Acharyashri and Yuvacharyashri and 100 of their disciples, under the hosting of master of ceremonies Narendra Nandu. This ten-day event consisted of Anjan Shalaka on the 29th of April. On the 30th of April in the same year, three more idols were established in the celebration of Acharyashri completing the Paarna of his 37th Varshitap in a row, along with 100 other Tapasvis.

During this 10-day event, Shri Dumra Jain Mahajan Charitable Trust was founded and with the appeal of the Mahajan, Narendra Nandu, and Shri Visanji Harshi Gala, 42 lakhs of rupees were raised for social causes in under an hour.Despite not having large funds themselves, each year the Mahajan raises enough funds with the help of village citizens for social, educational, medical, residential, women’s welfare, and charitable (Jeevdaya) causes.

Down the line of this long journey, two of our trustee friends, Shri Pravin Lalji Gosar, and Shri Uttamchand Ratanshi Gosar, left our company for their heavenly abode. They are remembered till this day for their contribution towards the construction and working of the multi-purpose complex.Chaaturmaas is organized each year in the village, and is celebrated with much fanfare.Presently, within the complex, a new Atithi Grah and Bhojan Shala are being established, with the help of our donor friends, promising excellent food and residential facilities. These institutions will be inaugurated in the month May, 2015.
